Peekaboo – Terms of Service
Effective date: 4 November 2026
Operator: 2865113 Ontario Inc. (Ontario, Canada), rbaig18@z2automation.net ("Peekaboo", "we", "us")
Please read these Terms carefully. They are a legal agreement between you and the operator of the Peekaboo app. By creating an account or using Peekaboo you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy, our Community Guidelines and our Dare Safety Rules, which are all part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Peekaboo.
1. Who can use Peekaboo
1.1 You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, you may not create an account, and we delete accounts we learn belong to children under 13.
1.2 If you are under 18, you may only use Peekaboo with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the app. Hit ups are not available to you (see section 6).
1.3 Hit ups are only for adults (18+): people under 18 cannot hit anyone up and cannot be hit up. This is based on the birthday you give us (section 6).
1.4 You may not use Peekaboo if we have previously banned you, or if the law where you live does not allow you to use it.
2. Your account
2.1 You need a username and a password, and you can add an email address. If you sign up without an email, you log in with your username, and we cannot get your account back if you forget your password. Keep your password private; you are responsible for everything done with your account.
2.2 One account per person. Give true information. Do not impersonate anyone.
2.3 You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent (see the Privacy Policy for details).
2.4 We may suspend or delete your account if you break these Terms, the Community Guidelines or the law, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable we will tell you why.
3. Your content
3.1 "Content" means anything you post or send on Peekaboo: photos, videos, voice notes, stories, peeks, drops, dares, Guess Who posts, captions, comments, messages, reactions, hit ups, dare ideas and votes.
3.2 You own your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit and adapt (for example resize or compress) your content, only so that Peekaboo can work as designed: showing it to the people you chose, delivering it to their devices, making thumbnails, and keeping backups. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that the people you sent it to have already received, screenshots or saves they have made, and backups we delete in the normal course of business.
3.3 You promise that you have the right to post your content, that it does not infringe anyone's rights (including privacy, copyright and image rights), and that everyone who appears in it has agreed to be in it and to it being shared on Peekaboo.
3.4 Disappearing content is not guaranteed to disappear. Stories expire after 24 hours and peeks are meant to be viewed once, but the person receiving them can screenshot, record or save them. Peekaboo tries to tell you when a screenshot is taken, but that alert can fail and does not stop the screenshot. Never send anything you would not want kept or shared.
3.5 We do not check content before it is posted. We may remove any content and restrict any account at our discretion, including for reports from other users, without notice.
3.6 Copyright complaints. If you believe content on Peekaboo infringes your copyright, email rbaig18@z2automation.net with: the content (a screenshot or description), where it appears, your contact details, a statement that you own the rights or act for the owner, and a statement that your complaint is accurate. We act on valid complaints and may terminate repeat infringers.
3.7 Profile songs are 30-second previews provided by Apple's iTunes Search service and remain subject to Apple's terms. Peekaboo does not sell or distribute music.
4. Dares, Drops, Forfeits and other challenges – important
Peekaboo suggests light-hearted dares, daily "drops", forfeits and friend challenges. Read this section carefully.
4.1 Everything is optional. A dare is only a suggestion. You never have to do a dare, a forfeit, a drop or any challenge, and nothing bad happens in the app if you skip one. You can leave any dare chain or group at any time.
4.2 You decide, and you are responsible. Only you can judge whether something is safe, legal and appropriate for you, where you are, and the people around you. If a dare is not safe or legal for you, do not do it. Change it into something safe, or skip it.
4.3 We do not supervise, verify or control dares. We are not present when you do a dare, we do not check what you do, and we cannot stop you from doing something foolish. Dares written by other users ("community dares") are their ideas, not ours; we do not endorse them.
4.4 You must follow the Dare Safety Rules. In short: nobody gets hurt, nothing illegal, no fire, no weapons, no vehicles, no alcohol or drugs, no water unless you can swim and someone is watching, nothing that involves strangers without their clear consent, no pranks that could frighten or injure someone, nothing that damages property, and nothing that breaks the rules of the place you are in. If you are under 18, do physical dares only with an adult present.
4.5 Assumption of risk. Physical activity carries risk of injury, illness, property damage and embarrassment. If you choose to do a dare, forfeit, drop or challenge, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk, and you accept all risks of doing it, including risks caused by your own or other participants' actions, the environment, and things you cannot foresee.
4.6 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by the law where you live, you release Peekaboo, its operator, and anyone working with us from any claim, loss, injury, damage or expense arising from your decision to attempt, perform, film, post or watch a dare, forfeit, drop or challenge, or from another user's dare or challenge.
4.7 Filming people. Only film people who know they are being filmed and agree to appear in Peekaboo. Respect privacy laws and do not film in places where people expect privacy.
4.8 Nothing in this section limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited (see section 11).
5. Rules of behaviour
5.1 You must follow the Community Guidelines. In short: no nudity or sexual content, no bullying, harassment, threats or hate, no violence or self-harm content, no illegal activity, no spam or scams, no sharing of other people's private information, no content involving minors in any sexual or harmful way, and no interference with the app or other users' accounts.
5.2 You must not reverse-engineer, scrape, bulk-download, automate or attack Peekaboo, or try to access data that is not yours.
5.3 We may report serious matters (for example threats, child-safety concerns or imminent danger) to the police or other authorities.
6. Hit ups and your birthday
6.1 A hit up lets you reach out to someone you are not friends with yet, with an optional short message. They can hit back (you become friends and can chat) or ignore it (we do not tell you). You cannot send them anything else until they hit back.
6.2 To use hit ups you must be 18 or older and give your real birthday. It is saved once, only you can see it, and it cannot be changed. A birthday must be a real date: not in the future, not more than 100 years ago, and showing you are at least 13. Giving a false birthday to use hit ups, or to reach people of a different age, is a serious breach and leads to a permanent ban.
6.3 You can send up to 10 hit ups a day, and one per person. You choose who can hit you up in Settings → Who can hit me up (everyone, friends of friends, or nobody). Blocking someone stops all hit ups between you, and every hit up can be reported.
6.4 Hit ups are for making friends. Do not use them to harass, spam, pressure or flirt with anyone who has not shown interest, or to send sexual content. We do not check identities or ages beyond the birthday people give us, and people online may not be who they say they are. Never send money, never share private information with someone you don't know, and if you meet someone in person, meet in a public place and tell someone you trust. We are not responsible for what other users do, online or offline.
7. Location, notifications and device features
7.1 The friend map shows your location to your Peekaboo friends only while location sharing is on. "Ghost mode" stops sharing and removes your stored location. Location is approximate and may be wrong; do not rely on it for safety.
7.2 Camera, microphone, photo library, location and notification access are optional and controlled by your phone's settings. Some features do not work without them.
8. Our service
8.1 Peekaboo is provided "as is" and "as available". We are a small team and the app is in active development. We do not promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure or available in your country, or that content will be deleted or disappear as intended.
8.2 We may change, add, pause or remove features at any time, and may stop operating Peekaboo altogether. We will try to give notice of major changes.
8.3 Peekaboo is free. If we ever add paid features we will tell you the price and terms first.
9. Third-party services
Peekaboo runs on services provided by others, including Supabase (database, file storage and login), Expo (app updates and push notifications), Apple (iTunes song previews, App Store, push notifications) and Google (Android map, Google Play, push notifications). Their terms apply to their services. We are not responsible for their availability or actions.
10. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, compensate and hold harmless Peekaboo and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by anyone that arises from: (a) your content; (b) your dares, forfeits, drops, challenges or the way you carried them out; (c) your breach of these Terms or the law; or (d) your interactions with other users, online or offline.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Peekaboo and its operator are not liable for: injury, illness or death arising from dares or other user activity; the behaviour of other users; content posted by users; loss of data or content; screenshots or re-sharing by others; indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages; or loss of profits, goodwill or reputation, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, even if we were told such damages were possible.
11.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for everything arising out of Peekaboo in any 12-month period is limited to CAD $100, or the amount you paid us in that period if that is more.
11.3 What this does not limit. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, for fraud, or for anything that the law where you live does not allow to be excluded. If you are a consumer in Ontario, Quebec, the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with consumer-protection laws that cannot be waived, those laws apply and these Terms only limit our liability to the extent those laws allow.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For important changes we will show a notice in the app or email you at least 14 days before they take effect. Using Peekaboo after that date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, delete your account before then.
13. Governing law and disputes
13.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
13.2 Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email rbaig18@z2automation.net; most issues can be fixed quickly.
13.3 Any dispute that cannot be settled will be decided by the courts of Ontario, Canada, and you agree to their jurisdiction – except that, if you are a consumer, you may bring a claim in the courts of the place where you live, and nothing here takes away your right to use a small-claims court or any right under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived (for example under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002).
14. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Peekaboo from Apple's App Store, the following also applies, as Apple requires:
- These Terms are between you and the operator of Peekaboo, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence to use Peekaboo is limited, non-transferable, and only for Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Terms of Service (including Family Sharing).
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Peekaboo.
- If Peekaboo fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund any purchase price (Peekaboo is free, so this is nil). To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- The operator, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and consumer-protection claims.
- If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property, the operator, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Peekaboo.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
15. General
15.1 If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies, and the unenforceable part is replaced by the closest enforceable version.
15.2 These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Dare Safety Rules are the whole agreement between you and us about Peekaboo.
15.3 We may transfer our rights under these Terms to a company we set up or to someone who takes over Peekaboo; we will tell you if we do. You may not transfer your account.
15.4 If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
